Mazda Displays World's Longest Advertisement in Tokyo

Mazda advertisement in Tokyo

16th February, 2005

Mazda Motor Corporation yesterday unveiled what it believes to be the world's longest advertising poster. The new advertisement, which features the recently launched, all-new Mazda Premacy, will be on display from 15th February to the 28th February in the Art Road underground walkway leading to Tokyo Station, in the Marunouchi business district of Japan's capital city.

The 'Family Ties' ad--which measures 311 meters (1,020 feet) in length, nearly one-third of a kilometre--features sixty family portraits taken by the famous Japanese photographer, Kishin Shinoyama. In all, 106 different images make up the poster.

According to Mazda's research, the currently recognized world's longest poster advertisement, at 274 meters in length, is a 1998 poster for an opera concert in Rome, Italy. Mazda will petition Guinness World Records for official recognition of the world's longest advertisement.
