Record September retail sales of 4,931 units have encouraged Mazda Australia to revise its 2005 sales target to a benchmark 67,000.

The new sales goal for the importer is now some 7,000 vehicles more than the original target set at the beginning of the year.

To help ensure a new sales record, Mazda Australia has kicked off its most ambitious retail sales campaign ever.

Dubbed “Mazda Will Do It For You” it applies across the class-leading Mazda passenger and Tribute SUV range -- excluding the all-new MX-5 and Mazda 6 MPS.

“The “Mazda Will Do It For You” campaign, which is backed up by good supply of our most popular models, will ensure that Mazda’s record sales run continues until year’s end”, said Mazda Australia managing director, Doug Dickson.

Mazda’s September result was up 1,062 units or 27.4 per cent on the same month last year with Mazda 3 (2,596 sales), Mazda 6 (945 sales) and Mazda 2 (516 sales) the best sellers.

Late September saw the first deliveries (90 sales) of the all-new MX-5, giving the world’s favourite roadster its best sales performance since April 2002.
