1st April, 2004 Mazda's Magnificent MarchMazda, with 5181 retails, has posted its best-ever March sales result and its second-best month since the brand arrived in Australia in 1959.The March total was 1027 vehicles or 27.8 per cent more than the same month last year and just 172 shy of the company’s record monthly sales total set in June 2003. Year-to-date Mazda’s sales total 13,867, and are up 15.2 per cent on last year, up 74.4 per cent on the first quarter of 2002 and ahead by 88.9 per cent on the company’s 2001 performance. The all-new Mazda3 sedan and hatch, which is still in limited supply, lead the way with 2040 sales. Mazda6, which is priced from $28,920 and is the only mid-size car with six airbags and ABS anti-lock brakes standard across the range, continues to shine with 1125 sales last month. Mazda2 also had a very strong month with 401 sales, its second best month ever. RX-8 sales reached 193. Commercials were also strong with the B Series reaching 651 sales, while the Tribute total reflected better supply with 509 sales. The managing director of Mazda Australia, Malcolm Gough, said: “Our March result is outstanding and demonstrates the momentum the Mazda brand has generated over the past few years”. Mazda Australia expects to post a sales record this year with a retail target of 55,000 vehicles. |
