Maserati has added a diesel powered luxury saloon to the Quattroporte line-up. It arrives with an opening price point from $198,800*.

With the arrival of the Quattroporte Turbo Diesel, Maserati expects the twin turbo V6 to continue to account for the majority of sales, around 65% with the range topping twin turbo V8 GTS accounting for 25% and the new Quattroporte Turbo Diesel taking just 10% of sales.

Maserati’s new diesel engine, a 3.0 litre V6 Turbo, has been specifically developed by VM Motori to meet Maserati’s requirements in terms of performance, efficiency and driving satisfaction. The Quattroporte Turbo Diesel delivers 600 Nm of torque and a maximum power of 202 kW. The Quattroporte diesel accelerates from 0-100 kmh in 6.4 seconds.

The fuel consumption rating is 6.2 l/100 km on the combined cycle.

Thanks to the Maserati Active Sound technology the Quattroporte Turbo Diesel exhaust system produces a characteristic Maserati sound that underlines the sporting nature of the car and can be varied at the touch of a button. Two sound actuators, fitted near the exhaust tailpipes, accentuate the engine’s most distinctive tones and modulate them according to the way the car is being driven. When the driver presses the Sport button the sound becomes even more resonant.

Inside and out the Maserati Quattroporte Turbo Diesel is lavishly equipped and finished with the only differences external differences between the GTS, S and D versions of the Quattroporte are wheel size and the shape of the exhaust pipe outlets.

The new Maserati Quattroporte debuts not just a new and unique to Maserati platform, but also a new petrol engine range and new turbo diesel engine developed specifically for Maserati, along with a new variant of the ZF eight speed gearbox. The suspension, the brakes, the interior are all new, as is its body that blends aluminium and steel for strength and lightness.
