Lexus has sold its 15,000th RX luxury SUV in Australia.
The milestone was achieved on the eve of the launch of the all new third generation RX 350, after just
six years on sale.
Launched in Australia in 2003, RX 330 was the first vehicle in Australia to offer reversing cameras as
standard.
In 2006, the RX line also introduced the SUV world to hybrid technology with RX 400h - a vehicle which
remains the world's only luxury hybrid SUV.
Lexus Australia chief executive John Roca said the milestone confirmed the ongoing popularity of the
RX model in Australia.
"It's quite appropriate that this milestone was achieved just as we launched all new RX 350," he said.
"The RX, in 330, 350 and hybrid variants, has been one of our most popular models - making up a third of
our local sales.
"All new RX 350 will again set a category benchmark: it is more powerful, more efficient, more comfortable,
safer and overall a more enjoyable vehicle to drive," Mr Roca said.
The new RX 350 models are equipped with Lexus' 3.5-litre quad-cam V6 engine which produces 204 kW of power,
346 Nm of torque and delivers exceptional fuel economy of 10.8 litres per 100 km*.
