Lexus is launching its fourth-generation GS sedan across Australia this
month.
Featuring an all-new model line-up, engine variants, design and on-board technology, the new Lexus GS has been
engineered to deliver the space, comfort, power, features and driving dynamics demanded from a grand touring sports
sedan. Available in Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury variants, the Lexus GS features an all-new exterior and interior
design which includes the new, more aggressive corporate frontal treatment, giving the new GS a powerful and commanding
road presence.
The beautifully crafted GS interior offers increased space and comfort for all occupants. Front seat passengers
benefit from an increase in legroom and up to 30 mm of extra headroom. Rear seat knee room has improved by 20 mm and
headroom increased by 25 mm, while luggage space has also increased by 23 per cent over the outgoing model. The interior
also features an ergonomically designed, dual-zone, driver-focused cockpit with advanced Human Machine Interface
technologies that help occupants remain alert and comfortable over long periods.
Several highly innovative technologies make their first appearance in the new GS model range:
- a comprehensive multimedia system featuring either an 8 or 12.3-inch multimedia display, advanced Bluetooth™
capabilities (not compatible with all devices) and hard drive-based satellite navigation with live traffic updates
- a choice of audio systems featuring standard Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB+) offering greater choice of stations and
sound clarity
- a new 'S-Flow' energy-saving air conditioning system with 'nanoe' sanitising technology
- a second-generation Lexus Remote Touch (LRT) interface linked to the world's largest on-board multi-information
display screen.
The F Sport package, available across the GS model range, features exclusive exterior and interior design elements,
while a unique chassis tune ensures the F Sport rewards the driver in all of us.
GS 350 F Sport also features Lexus Dynamic Handling System (LDHS) along with a two-piece front rotor and four piston
calliper brake package.
LDHS features the world's first integration of Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS),
Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) and Electric Power Steering (EPS).
Both GS 250 and GS 350 feature new-to-GS powertrains.
The GS 250 delivers 154 kW of power and 253 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.6 seconds.
The GS 350 produces 233 kW of power and 378 Nm of torque and can undertake 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds.
The new Lexus GS combines sharp, accurate steering and excellent body control with outstanding high speed stability
and all the ride comfort appropriate for a Lexus performance sedan.
Improvements to its driving dynamics have been achieved via a new body shell, which achieves a 14 per cent increase in
structural rigidity, and the addition of new suspension, more powerful brakes and leading-edge technologies such as
Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and LDHS.
The new Lexus GS is comprehensively equipped with technologically advanced active safety and driver assistance
systems.
Lexus Australia chief executive Tony Cramb said that the all-new GS will be a revelation for existing GS owners and a
fierce competitor for its rivals.
"With its new design, engaging dynamics and class-rivalling specification, the all-new GS range will put our rivals
on notice and attract many new customers," said Mr Cramb.
"It will challenge the current paradigm of what represents value for money in the luxury market."
"The Lexus engineering and product teams have worked tirelessly to deliver a GS that sets the course for all future
product from Lexus, by encompassing a vehicle that combines the traditional luxury features of a Lexus with rewarding
driving dynamics."
"GS is the genesis of a renewed product focus from Lexus, driven by a passionate engineering and design team that
desire to be the best at what they do - with the ultimate winner being the customer," Mr Cramb said.

Safety and Driver Assistance
The all-new Lexus GS is a safety tour de force, with a comprehensive package of active and passive safety measures.
All new-generation Lexus GS models are equipped with Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)**, Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPM), 10
airbags and Lexus' advanced Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system** (VDIM) (VDIM Step 5 on GS 350 F Sport).
VDIM cooperatively controls the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist
(BA), Traction Control (TRC), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and, where fitted, Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS)^.
GS 250 and 350 Sports Luxury models are also fitted with the full Lexus Advanced Pre-Collision safety System (PCS)**,
which includes Driver Fatigue Monitor (DFM)**, Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Brake Assist, Pre-Collision Braking,
Pre-Collision Seat Belt tensioning and collision avoidance support via the DRS function (GS 350 F Sport).
Driver Fatigue Monitor is all-new and debuts on GS Sports Luxury models. The system continuously monitors the driver's
eye and head movements and produces an audible and visual alert if the driver takes their eyes off the road or falls
asleep and an accident is deemed likely. The system, which operates as part of the PCS, aims to minimise the likelihood
of an incident where the driver's concentration on the road is broken. It also prepares the vehicle for impact via the
Advanced PCS system in the event of a collision.
BSM detects the presence of another vehicle in either adjacent lane and alerts the driver to their presence via an LED
warning light in the relevant side mirror. The system helps to prevent lane change collisions, which accounts for nine
per cent of all vehicle accidents in the US.
New Lexus GS also debuts an expanded Head Up Display (HUD) system**, which displays vehicle speed, engine revolutions,
gear position, radio stations, turn-by-turn navigation and driver alerts from the Advanced PCS.
All GS models feature Lexus' emergency brake lights, which flash twice per second (2 Hertz) when the driver initiates
an emergency or sudden braking manoeuvre at over 0.7g and above 55 km/h. This alerts surrounding drivers to sudden
braking and gives them the opportunity to react sooner.
Passive safety features include a full complement of 10 airbags with front driver and passenger knee airbags and rear
side seat airbags.
All Lexus GS models feature Whiplash Injury Lessening front seats to secure the occupants' head and neck in the event
of a rearward collision to reduce whiplash.
This comprehensive safety package is complemented by a stronger, 14 per cent stiffer body featuring the use of
ultra-high tensile hot stamped, cold-quenched 1500Mpa steel.
Competitive
Lexus will launch its all-new GS range with aggressive pricing, greater specification and better value than ever
before.
The new GS 250 and GS 350 models will feature sharp pricing across three variants, starting from $77,900* for the GS
250 Luxury model. Compared with the outgoing model, the GS range now enters the market with a 20 per cent improvement in

Lexus customers will also be treated to segment-challenging levels of standard equipment, with innovative features
such as Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)**, Tyre Pressure Monitor, eight-sensor parking and clearance sonar**, reverse camera**,
and Bi-Xenon HID headlamps with Adaptive Front lighting System.
Other standard, no-cost features include next generation Lexus Remote Touch, metallic self-healing paint (available on
certain colours), Drive Mode Select, rain sensing wipers, DAB+ digital radio, hard disc drive satellite navigation with
live traffic alerts^^, four-door smart entry with card key, advanced Bluetooth™ with audio streaming (not compatible
with all devices) and Lexus' unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated management (VDIM) vehicle stability system.
The GS 250 range introduces two new variants - Luxury and F Sport - which join the existing Sports Luxury in the
line-up. All three are powered by an efficient all-alloy quad-cam V6 that develops 154 kW of power.
GS 350 models will mirror that of the GS 250 line-up and feature a best-in-class 233 kW naturally aspirated, 3.5 litre
petrol all-alloy quad cam V6. GS 350's manufacturer's list price* starts at $89,900* for the Luxury model.
Lexus Chief Executive Tony Cramb said that all-new GS would redefine how Lexus is perceived, now and in the future.
"The all-new Lexus GS goes right to the heart of our brand values, delivering a vehicle that improves on the past
and sets the benchmark for the future."
"With its bold new look, new found athleticism, increased space, innovative features, expanded range and
exceptional pricing, the all-new GS range is sure to impress," Mr Cramb said.
In addition to the standard specification, Luxury models feature 17-inch alloy wheels (18-inch on GS 350 Luxury),
six-speed automatic sequential transmission with paddle shift, ECO/NORMAL and SPORT driving modes, cruise control,
leather-accented interior, front fog lamps, LED daytime running lamps, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and heated
