28th April, 2004 A NEW FREELANDER?Making its debut at Birmingham Motor Show, next month, will be a proposed Freelander rally limited edition, inspired by the reconnaissance vehicles used by Colin McRae and Carlos Sainz during the 2001 World Rally Championship and based on the Freelander Sport. Depending on public reaction and interest in the vehicle, it could go on sale in the UK from September 2004. Off-roading also forms a key part of Land Rover's activity at this year's show, with the company taking over the NEC's Hall 3 in conjunction with American Express for the construction of an exclusive themed off-road course. American Express cardholders have complimentary access to the hall and vehicles, and there will be a large viewing gallery for all visitors to the show. Land Rover UK managing director, Phil Popham, said: "The Sunday Times Motor Show Live is Land Rover's home show, and we are therefore delighted to be supporting in such a big way, with two product debuts and a challenging and exciting urban off-road course just yards from our stand." Also, the all-new Discovery 3 TDV6 will make its world debut at this year's Motor Show in Birmingham, joining the V8 petrol powered vehicle unveiled in New York earlier this month. |
