The donation of a vehicle worth more than $100,000
will help Moreton TAFE automotive students study the latest technical
developments in their field Employment, Training and Industrial Relations
Minister Tom Barton announced on Tuesday.
Mr Barton was speaking at the presentation of a state-of-the art Range Rover
which was donated by Land Rover Australia, at Moreton TAFE.
"The donation will help Moreton TAFE automotive students keep up to date with
the latest technological developments in the automotive industry," he said.
Land Rover Australia is also a great supporter of the Federal Chamber of
Automotive Industries (FCAI) Automotive Donation Programme. Through this programme,
a total of six Range Rovers have been donated to TAFE Institutes around
Australia, including two in each New South Wales and Victoria, one in South
Australia, and now one in Queensland.
In addition, this year alone, $4 million worth of components and assemblies
will be donated by the automotive industry for apprentice and post apprentice
training in TAFE Institutes throughout Australia.
The Range Rover donated to Moreton TAFE was presented to Mr Barton by Ms Lesa
Horntvedt of Land Rover Australia.
"Land Rover lead the world in Four Wheel Drive technology and we are both
proud and delighted to be able to share our expertise with the automotive
technicans of the future", said Ms Horntvedt.
"It will give Moreton TAFE students the opportunity to study the latest
automotive technology first hand," Mr Barton said. "Having such state of the art
technology available to Moreton TAFE helps ensure TAFE students are kept at the
cutting edge of automotive development."
The Range Rover is a luxury four-wheel-drive vehicle available in 4.4 litre
V8 petrol and 3.0 litre turbo- diesel derivatives.
It is a five speed automatic transmission with CommandShift and permanent
four-wheel drive through a torque sensing transfer case. The Range Rover rides
on air with its state-of-the-art electronic air suspension, has Four Wheel
Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic
Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Engine Drag-Torque Control (EDC), Hill Descent Control
(HDC), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Electronic
Brake Force Distribution (EBD).

advances of automotive machinery," Mr Barton said.
