Kia has outperformed the Australian vehicle market and recorded
positive growth for the first five months of 2009 in an industry that is down 19.2 per cent against the same
time in 2008.
Kia has seen its market share grow progressively to 2.4 per cent this year compared with 2.0 per cent this
time last year.
Kia's performance in the first five months of 2009 has the brand on track to record its best annual sales
increase since the establishment of Kia's Australian subsidiary in 2006.
Highlights for Kia during May included:
- The award-winning Kia Carnival range streeted the field to register 320 sales for a mammoth 37.3 per cent
of the under-$55K people mover market, easily making it Australia's most popular people mover, a title it held
in 2001 and every year since 2004.
- The seven-seat Kia Rondo helped to increase Kia's total share of the overall under-$55K people mover market
to 43.2 per cent, ahead of the second-placed people mover manufacturer on 22 per cent market share.

"More car buyers are realising that in the current economic climate it's a smart decision to make a
pragmatic purchase choice," commented Terry Im, President & CEO of Kia Motors Australia.
"May's continued growth demonstrates that something's going on at Kia, with new products, sensational
equipment (levels), strong safety and low cost of ownership making a Kia purchase a smart choice."
"Add in Kia's unlimited-kilometre, 5-year warranty - for private buyers - and the security of the new Kia
Assurance programme and buyers have some very compelling reasons to check out the whole Kia range."
Kia Motors Australia released their new
Cerato sedan in
January and the trendy
Soul in April.
Later in the year, the new Cerato Koup will be released. A new Sorento is also expected.
