The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has just made its local testing debut, being put through its paces several months ahead of the much anticipated Australian launch.

First shown to the public in Australia at the 2010 National Jeep Jamboree held at Lardner Park in Victoria Thursday 30th September through to Sunday 3rd October 2010, over 900 delighted Jeep enthusiasts were thrilled to view the all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee on display and also at work.

The `Jambo’ spectators witnessed the overseas-specification Grand Cherokee’s first mission, hitting the 4WD test track and showcasing its exceptional off-road capabilities and advanced technologies.

With its high-tech Hill Decent Control (HDC) in full play, the new Selec-TerrainTM system was also utilised, boasting five settings for varied conditions including auto, mud/sand, rock, snow and sport - all conditions experienced in this country.

To complement these outstanding technologies, the all-new Quadra-LiftTM air suspension system will also be available on selected models and will further enhance the off-road capabilities of this legendary vehicle.

The Quadra-Lift system provides up to an additional 105 mm lift span either automatically or manually via the console controls, ideal for those extreme conditions.

In addition to the Grand Cherokee’s inspirational four-wheel-drive abilities, the Jeep Jamboree’s Show `n Shine competition was the perfect location to showcase the new refined interior, boasting outstanding levels of craftsmanship, as well as the stylish good looks of the exterior.

Under the bonnet, the Grand Cherokee will be the first vehicle in Australia to receive the all-new Pentastar 3.6 litre V6 engine, with the legendary 259 kW 5.7 litre HEMI® V8 also available, featuring 4-cylinder-mode fuel-saving technology.

Due for Australian release around February 2011, stay tuned to Next Car for the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee’s specification and pricing announcement closer to the launch date.
