2008 Jeep Jamboree – The Ultimate 4WD Single Brand Event
28th July, 2008 | |||
Jeep enthusiasts, their families and friends will flock to the 2008 Jeep Jamboree to explore a full range of activities, including off-road driving trails, fun vehicle-related challenges and regional drives through the scenic NSW central coast. From Friday 26th September to Monday 29th September, 2008, Jeep owners will trek down bush trails, conquer rugged terrain, test their skills on 4WD tracks, or if that’s all too hard, catch up on some local history and talk everything Jeep. “This isn’t a show and shine event where the classics sit and sparkle. In true Jeep Jamboree tradition, owners with World War II Jeeps through to the current mighty Wrangler Rubicon will have the opportunity to conquer the toughest trails," said Gerry Jenkins, managing director, Chrysler Australia. Jeep is committed to the off-road community, offering out of the box ultimate off-road fun with vehicles such as the Wrangler Rubicon and the recently released 2008 Wrangler with the optional diesel off-road pack. “This bi-annual event is recognised amongst Jeep enthusiasts as the must do event and we’re extremely proud to have a key role as the major sponsor”, said Jenkins. This year’s event, hosted by the Cherokee Club of NSW , will be held at the Morisset Showground, located just north of Wyong and south of Newcastle on the east coast of NSW. This will be a great opportunity for new and current Jeep owners to get together and swap stories about their many adventures. As well as classics, there will be current Jeep vehicles such as the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee, Commander, Compass and Patriot along with the most recent addition, the all-new Jeep Cherokee. Jeep brand On 7th June, 1941, the U.S. Army received its first shipments of the Willys MA, the rugged 4x4 vehicle that came to be called the “jeep.” This predecessor to today’s Jeep® Wrangler would prove so vital to the war effort that General Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed that we could not have won WW II without it. The expansion of the Jeep brand began in 2005 when the Jeep Commander – the first Jeep vehicle with seven-passenger seating – was introduced as a 2006 model. (It shares its platform with the Grand Cherokee, a descendent of the Wagoneer and the legendary Grand Wagoneer.) Three vehicles debuted in 2006 as 2007 models: the redesigned Jeep Wrangler two-door, the icon of the brand … the all-new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, the first-ever four-door Wrangler … and the all-new Jeep Compass. In late 2006, production also began on the all-new Jeep Patriot. A 3.0-litre diesel is now available in the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, a first for the full-size SUV segment. The new-from-the-ground-up the 2008 Jeep Cherokee stays true to the brand’s core values of freedom, authenticity, mastery and the capability to go anywhere. The Cherokee’s redesigned exterior takes on a more rugged, classic Jeep look. On-road ride and handling have been improved and refined with the new independent front suspension, new five-link rear suspension and rack-and-pinion steering. Jeep Cherokee also has an industry first: the new Sky Slider™ full open canvas roof, which gives it that “Only in a Jeep” open-air experience. The Jeep brand’s legendary 4x4 heritage has made it one of the most recognised brands in the world. International sales in 2006 grew 2 percent, to 85,591 units, compared to 2005. Global sales in 2006 were more than 595,000 units. |
