Jayco’s key challenge is to continue developing
and building the best recreational vehicles (RVs) in the country. Not one to
rest on its laurels, Jayco keeps ‘raising the bar’ on industry standards. And
this year is no different, with the unveiling of the company’s new Sterling
series which replaces its top-of-the-range Heritage series, launched five years
ago.
The new Sterling series is no mere Heritage upgrade. The new models set new
industry benchmarks with their sleek, contemporary design, spacious lay-out and
superior overall product quality.
New external safety features include reversing sensors and LED side and
clearance lights. The rear fibreglass moulding also has a built-in spare wheel
compartment.
While the Sterling’s sleek design and superb exterior finish will turn heads,
it is the luxurious new interior design that will win over the discerning eye.
New features include:
- a 28cm (15in) LCD screen and DVD/CD/MP3/AM/FM 12V stereo;
- three-way Dometic RM 2553 fridge;
- brushed aluminium appliances including stove and range-hood.
- a recessed sink with glass lid;
- a control panel which monitors water tank and battery levels; and
- a 12 volt pump (which supersedes the bench hand pumps of earlier
models).
The Sterling models also feature new overhead cupboard designs, new internal
ceiling lights and swivel down-lights for the beds.
The décor is also new. A range of new wall, curtain, cushion and laminex
colours has been introduced, as well as curved edging to the bench tops, and
newly designed floor vinyl.
The new Sterlings are built on Jayco’s ever reliable Millennium chassis and
use the Tough Frame aluminium construction developed by the company. The walls
and roof are fully insulated.
The models range in size from 5.45 (17ft 10in) to 7.79 metres (25ft 7 in).
While the two smallest models do not include a shower and toilet, these
facilities are installed in the 5.78 metre (18ft 11 in) model and in all larger
vans.
