'Sports Collection' for X-TYPE Range |
28th October, 2004 Jaguar Australia unveiled a stylish new
interpretation of the X-TYPE at the Australian International Motor Show in
Sydney earlier this month. The addition of a sports pack gives the X-TYPE a sporty differentiation
targeted at the younger buyer.
The enhancements give the X-TYPE a more athletic, sportier appearance with a
new front lower spoiler, black mesh grille and lower 'infill' grille. In keeping
with the new front-end section, the design team has also lowered the side sills
and added a new, lower rear valance to ensure the more squat, purposeful stance
is noticeable from all angles. The 'Sports Collection' X-TYPE also gets a more
pronounced rear boot spoiler as well as new exhaust tailpipe finishers. Stylish,
new 18" Proteus alloy wheels complete the look. "The X-TYPE sports collection is a move into aftermarket packages for Jaguar,
but Jaguar Australia is also looking at utilising the X-TYPE kit as part of a
limited edition X-TYPE in 2005." ..... David Blackhall, General Manager, Jaguar Australia
Depending on the model, the full 'Sports Collection' package can be ordered
in early 2005 for all existing X-TYPE vehicles - or retro-fitted. Pricing will
be confirmed nearer the on sale date. The body styling components have all been developed for ease of installation
onto vehicles and all parts utilise current fixings. "Body-styling kits must be designed as an integral part of the car. The
rationale was to emphasise the stance of the X-TYPE by lowering the visual
aspect. The enhancements we have made for the 'Sports Collection' give the car a
more aggressive, purposeful look. The whole attitude of the car has been lowered
giving the impression it is hugging the road." ..... Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design
