The Jaguar XJ6 has picked up the award for 'Best Luxury Car' for the second year running at the prestigious UK magazine What Car?'s annual Car of the Year Awards held last night in London.

A panel of judges from What Car? magazine voted the XJ6 as the best in its class because of its looks, driving dynamics, quality, ample performance and impeccable refinement.

David Motton, editor of What Car? magazine, commented: "The Jaguar XJ6 does everything a luxury car should, it's a modern twist on a classic theme and there's substance to back up the style. Excellent body control and a lightweight aluminium construction make the XJ more agile than any of its rivals. There's all the luxury equipment you'd expect, the fit and attention to detail are immaculate and the drive is everything you would expect of Jaguar's flagship saloon."

Bibiana Boerio, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars, said: "We are delighted with the reaction the aluminium XJ continues to receive from both the media and our customers. The XJ had a tremendous year in the UK, where it accounts for 1 of every 3 cars sold in its segment. We're looking forward to building on this strength with the introduction of the new 2.7 diesel XJ later this year."

The XJ also had success in the 2004 JD Power and Associates Initial Quality Study, (IQS). Jaguar's best performing model was the new XJ saloon, which was ranked second in the premium luxury car segment. Jaguar also moved up to become the highest-ranked European car manufacturer for vehicle quality and dependability, improving its performance by 20% over the previous year.
