2nd December, 2004 The Jaguar S-TYPE Diesel has picked up the award for the 'Best Executive Saloon 2005' at the Top Gear Magazine awards held in the United Kingdom this week. A panel of judges from the Top Gear Magazine and TV programme voted the S-TYPE Diesel, which is currently not available in Australia, as the best entry in the class because of its class-leading handling, smooth ride and quietness. Jeremy Clarkson, host of BBC2's Top Gear and columnist for Top Gear Magazine said: "It's the best handling and smoothest riding executive saloon of them all..... Jaguar hasn't forgotten that execs need cosseting at the end of a hard day. For our brave and fearless businessmen up and down the land, the S-TYPE Diesel really is the best." Phil Popham, UK Managing Director, Jaguar Cars, added: "We are delighted with yet another award for the S-TYPE Diesel, this is another fantastic example of the recognition that the S-TYPE has received from both the media and our customers. The introduction of the Diesel engine has made it an even more attractive proposition and this award is further evidence that the S-TYPE Diesel continues to compete with the best in class." The S-TYPE Diesel has scooped a number of awards since its launch including most recently the Diesel Car of the Year at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards. The X-TYPE Diesel also picked up the award for best Executive Car at the Northern Ireland Maxol Car of the Year Awards 2004 earlier this year. |
