30th November, 2004 The 'Jaguar Science and Business Park – Whitley,' as it is to be known, will be a key part in Jaguar's future development programme and will also strengthen Coventry's economic and technical infrastructure. First details have been unveiled this month in an artist's impression. Joe Greenwell Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Jaguar and Land Rover commented, "I am delighted that the Science and Business Park concept has gained traction. It spells out Jaguar's commitment to the city of Coventry and I have no doubt that the park will play a pivotal role in strengthening the local economy as well as providing a cornerstone to Jaguar's future product plans. The focus on Whitley will grow as Jaguar's next generation of cars comes to fruition." Following a series of high level meetings between Jaguar and the City Council a decision is expected shortly on the developer that will undertake this ambitious project and other strategic partners will be subsequently appointed in close collaboration between Jaguar and Coventry City Council. Councillor Ken Taylor, Leader of Coventry City Council, said: "This is excellent news for Jaguar and for the people of Coventry who will be working within the new business park in the future. We welcome the plans for this development and the jobs it will create in the city." Jaguar anticipates that a number of suppliers will take the opportunity to relocate to the Whitley science park given the resource, facility and location advantages the park will offer such businesses. All current and future Jaguar cars are designed, developed and engineered at the Whitley Product Development Centre, which was recently confirmed as being a pivotal part of the Company's design and engineering function for the future. In addition to supporting Jaguar's on-site operations, the Science and Business Park will provide facilities for similar or related design and development work. Full details of the development will be subject to a future announcement. The joint planning application by Coventry City Council and Jaguar was approved in November 2001 and any future proposals will be within the plans laid down at the time of the public inquiry. The Jaguar Whitley site is vital in providing high quality employment land to meet Coventry's planned needs for future growth. Significant investment has taken place at the Whitley Product Development Centre and the Science and Business Park will demonstrate a further commitment by Jaguar to the local, regional and national economy.
