Hyundai Motor Company Australia will become the first automotive company in the nation to offer and supply FREE satellite navigation map updates. Owners of new generation i30 and i40 sedan models will receive free annual updates during the first three years of ownership. This complimentary service will also be available on all future new Hyundai models featuring satellite navigation technology.

Hyundai has introduced its NAVTEQ MapCare™ Plan, which provides mapping and content updates to ensure drivers are never out of date or out of touch with the ever-changing urban landscape. All vehicles serviced at participating authorised Hyundai dealers will receive complimentary mapping updates^ for three years. Map updates will be supplied annually at the completion of a Hyundai Scheduled Service by any participating authorised Hyundai dealer FREE of cost.

“This programme has certainly set a new standard in navigation within the automotive industry in Australia,” said Brent Stafford, Director, Sales (Oceania), Nokia. “We are pleased to be working with Hyundai to offer a comprehensive MapCare™ programme which will extend to their full range of navigation-equipped vehicles. We believe the programme will help Hyundai to significantly increase its customer satisfaction.”

Both the new generation Hyundai i30 and i40 sedan (Elite and Premium models) feature a streamlined fully-integrated in-dash satellite navigation system operated via a 7-inch full-colour touch screen. The high-tech system features mapping guidance for over one million kilometres of roads and highways, as well as offering a comprehensive Point Of Interest (POI) database containing hundreds of thousands of reference points including ATM’s, buildings, landmarks, petrol stations, restaurants, shops, parking stations and accommodations.

Hyundai’s new navigation system is standard in Elite and Premium models within the i30 and i40 sedan ranges. This state-of-the-art system also utilises SUNA™ live traffic update software to ensure urban driving is as trouble-free and efficient as possible.

SUNA Traffic Channel is a digital traffic information service broadcasting detailed information regarding traffic flow directly to compatible in-car satellite navigation devices. The programme utilises live coverage of routes to identify, and notify any on-road incidents, offering alternative route options to assist in avoiding accident, roadwork or traffic congestion on the entered route and helping to keep drivers on track, and on time.

“At Hyundai we strive to ensure the total ownership experience for our customers is optimised,” said Andrew Tuitahi, Manager Product Planning Hyundai Motor Company Australia. “The inclusion of the NAVTEQ Mapcare™ programme and SUNA™ live traffic update software confirms we are not only delivering advanced technology in our vehicles, but ensuring our customers are always one step ahead with on-going support and data maintenance.”

The Hyundai’s satellite navigation system is fully integrated with each model’s comprehensive in-car audio system, featuring full connectivity for iPod®, MP3 music streaming, and Bluetooth® hands-free phone operation and audio streaming. The large format screen delivers outstanding generation of reversing camera imagery for added safety and convenience.

NOTE: ^Maximum number of two updates delivered on an annual cycle and must be consumed within three years of the vehicle’s initial purchase. Free map updates only apply if the vehicle is serviced at an authorised Hyundai service centre.
