Honda Australia is rewriting its record book for a third time in three years thanks to another all-time sales record.

VFACTS figures released yesterday show Honda sold 47,001 units in 2005, surpassing last year’s record by 10,527 units and growing by 28.8%.

Honda finished the year with a passenger vehicle market share of 6.1%, an SUV share of 5.4% and overall share of 4.8%, a full one percent increase over 2004.

The biggest seller for the year was the Accord Euro followed by Honda’s compact SUV, the CR-V. Other strong performances were recorded by the Jazz, Civic, Accord and Odyssey.

Honda’s solid finish to the year combined with strong forward orders, paves the way for an outstanding start to 2006.

Honda Australia Senior Director Lindsay Smalley said, “In January last year we set ourselves a challenge; to beat our ’04 sales record. And thanks to the sustained commitment by Honda Australia staff and our dealers we have achieved an outstanding result. But most of all I want to thank our customers in helping us achieve this significant result”.
