7th January, 2005 Honda is rewriting its records book for a second time in two years thanks to a new all-time sales record. VFACTS figures released yesterday show Honda sold 36,474 units in 2004, surpassing the previous year’s record by 5,657 units. Honda’s passenger vehicle market share was 4.6%, its SUV share 5.5% and overall share of 3.8% was up from 3.4% in 2003. The record year was achieved thanks to strong demand for the CR-V, Jazz, Accord and Accord Euro with the all-new 7-seater Odyssey helping to propel sales to the record result. Since July 2003, the Accord Euro has been the undisputed king of Australia’s prestige car segment and demand for this popular model continues to soar. Honda’s excellent December sales combined with strong forward orders, paves the way for an outstanding start to 2005. Honda Australia Director Lindsay Smalley said, “This time last year we were pleased with our achievement, but we also knew we could step take our sales to a new level and I would like to thank all Honda Associates, our dealers and most importantly our customers in helping us achieve this significant result”. |
