Holden’s stunning 21st century hot rod concept - EFIJY -
has been chosen to headline a collection of the world’s most beautiful cars in Melbourne later this
month.
EFIJY will be featured at Motorclassica, Australia’s first International Concours d’Elegance and
Classic Motor Show at the world heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Buildings in Carlton Gardens from
22nd-24th October.
First launched at the Sydney Motor Show in 2005, EFIJY boasts V8 super car power under the bonnet, a
Chevrolet Corvette underbody and state-of-the-art automotive technology. The ‘Soprano Purple’ paintwork
highlights its curvaceous 5.2-metre body, reinterpreting the classic design cues of the iconic 1953 FJ
Holden.
The technology matches the larger-than-life design cues with a 480-kilowatt, supercharged six-litre
V8 engine, air-adjustable shock absorbers, touch control LCD screen and fan-cooled LED headlamps.

Holden Chief Designer and EFIJY designer Richard Ferlazzo said the company was honoured to have the
Australian concept vehicle chosen to be a part of such a prestigious event. “We’re certainly honoured
to have EFIJY displayed in its home city among some of the world’s most stunning cars,” Mr Ferlazzo
said. “I’m sure EFIJY will evoke different memories for everyone who sees it throughout the event.
People might focus on the FJ links, the beautiful custom coupes of the 1930s or the even the great
design flair of the 1950s.”
The Holden EFIJY concept car has gathered a growing legion of fans wherever it has been displayed,
receiving world-wide recognition including the prestigious title of 2007 North American Concept Car of
the Year by South East Automotive Media Organisation (SEAMO). It was also described as ‘probably the
most beautiful concept car ever’ when it was named Hot Rod of the Year by Hot Rod magazine in
the United States.
