3rd February, 2005 Holden's all wheel drive (AWD) Adventra wagon range now boasts three new Alloytec V6-powered models to meet an even broader range of buyer needs. Holden Chairman and Managing Director Denny Mooney today revealed an expanded and restyled Adventra AWD wagon line-up with the new SX6, CX6 and LX6 variants joining the V8 powered Adventra LX8. Mr Mooney said the combination of Holden's Alloytec V6 engine and Cross Trac AWD system emphasised the safety and technology benefits of the Holden range, and represented outstanding value for money. The high-performance Alloytec 190 engine, refined five-speed automatic transmission, leading-edge Electronic Stability Programme and Hill Descent Control will be standard on all V6 Adventra variants. CX6 and LX6 models also offer Active Select with transmission paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Mr Mooney said Adventra V8 was also improved, with powertrain refinements to the LX8 model boosting power output to 250kW. "The introduction of our premium V6 engine to Adventra takes Holden's all wheel drive wagon range to a whole new level," Mr Mooney said. "The new Adventra V6 variants represent part of the broadest all wheel drive
range offered by an Australian car maker and reinforces Holden as a leader in
delivering safety, technology and value."
Safety, Technology and Value HDC allows drivers to safely negotiate steep gradients in drive or reverse without having to touch the brake pedal. The system automatically applies the brakes and limits the speed of the vehicle, avoiding lock-up of the wheels. Vehicle speed can be increased or decreased using the cruise control switches. ESP greatly improves vehicle safety performance in situations where the driver takes emergency action to avoid a collision. By helping to control under-steer and over-steer, ESP maintains grip and helps stabilise the vehicle. Further active safety features are Corner Braking Control (CBC), Electronic Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). Styling and Features Adventra LX6 and LX8 models have 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels with graphite inserts, jewelled projector headlamps with 'optic fibre' twin bar parkers and black bezels, clear lens fog lamps and chrome grille headers. Flared wheel arches and Euro-style roof rack emphasise Adventra's crossover credentials. The rear tailgate glass lifts separately and can be operated remotely for easy loading of small items, while the rear compartment is more accessible than most 4WDs due to its lower floor height. Rear seats have a 60/40 split feature and fold almost completely flat to provide 2683 litres of cargo space, while a folding rear seat option makes room for seven. There are four new-to-the-range exterior finishes. Bright chromatic Impulse blue, dark mercury silver Odyssey, light to mid-green/blue metallic Barbados and Heron White join Quicksilver and Phantom metallic black and Shanghai Red. Adventra SX6 standard features include 17-inch six spoke alloy wheels, rear park assist, power windows, CD player, cruise control, auto headlamps, trip computer, air conditioning, driver, front passenger and side airbags, fabric seat and door trim, power exterior mirrors, remote tailgate window operation, retracting cargo blind and chrome exhaust tip. Adventra CX6 adds chromed projector headlamps, leather trim in neutral pewter, leather wrap steering wheel with Active Select, electronic climate control, leather wrap transmission shifter and handbrake handle, 6 disc CD player, graphic equaliser, multi-mode trip computer, satin chrome highlights, front spot reading lamps, dash-top storage compartment, integrated rear storage compartments and power outlet. LX6 and LX8 Adventra have electric sunroof, level ride suspension, premium 10-speaker audio system with subwoofer and 260W amplifier, leather and suede interior trim, front sports seats with electric eight-way adjustment, sports profile leather wrap steering wheel with satin chrome spokes, heated exterior mirrors with memory, 'auto dip' passenger side exterior mirror, dual zone climate control, high-mounted sports auxiliary gauges, roof rack with integrated luggage carrier, Priority Key, cargo and tie-down safety nets, stainless steel sill plates, first aid kit. Safety Powertrain Improvements to the LX Adventra's 5.7 litre Gen III V8 bring electronic throttle control for improved driveability and durability, a smoother-shifting four-speed auto transmission and a 15 kW boost in power to 250kW at 5600 rpm, developing 470Nm of torque at 4800rpm. Strength and Durability Cross Trac The rear wheel drive-biased torque split is 38 per cent front and 62 per cent rear for maximum flexibility and stability. Cross Trac software is calibrated to cope with gravel and loose dirt surfaces that make up 65 per cent of Australian roads. Thousands of variables determine the amount of torque split required for maximum traction. All Adventra models have a high 200mm ground clearance. Holden by Design
