Adelaide's Holden FE 50th Anniversary Run
|
|||
In 1956 the Holden FE series was released. This was a significant motoring
event as the FE model was the first completely new Holden since 1948. The
model had a production run to May 1958 and in that time 155,161 FEs
vehicles were produced. The FE was replaced by the FC model. It was during
the FE/FC era that Holdens commanded up to 50.3% of the Australian new car
market - more new Holdens were sold in Australia than all other makes
combined. The FE & FC Holden Car Club of SA Inc. is to hold a run to commemorate the
50th Anniversary of the release of the FE Holden. The event is open to all
FE and FC Holdens, whether modified or in “stock” condition, restored or
original. When: Sunday 22nd October 2006 Time: Route: Depart from the “home of the FE”,
Woodville Industrial Park, (formerly GM-H’s production base in SA)
Port Road Woodville. Travel via Port Road, West Terrace, Grote Street,
Parade through King William Street and O’Connell Street, North Adelaide,
then via Main North East Road to The National Motor Museum at Birdwood for
photo shoot and other activities. Ken McLean, author and recognised FE/FC Holden expert from Victoria, will speak on the history of the FE model in the theatrette at the National Motor Museum. The Club is inviting all FE & FC Holden owners to participate, regardless of club affiliation. It is expected over 40 Holdens manufactured between July 1956 and December 1959 will join the parade.
