Holden will debut its expanded VZ all-wheel-drive range at the Brisbane International Motor Show from Friday 4th February alongside the spectacular Torana TT36 Concept Car from 2004.

Direct from its national launch, Holden's new VZ AWD range with the Alloytec V6 engine will be shown publicly for the first time.

Holden Chairman and Director Denny Mooney says the new VZ AWD range added diversity to Holden's already broad product line up. Details of the new V6 variants will be announced at the show.

"The new V6 variants represent part of the broadest AWD range by an Australian car maker and reinforces Holden as a leader in delivering safety, technology and value," Mr Mooney said.

The hot pink Torana TT36 - powered by an experimental 280kW twin turbo 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 engine - was designed to demonstrate the strength and versatility of Holden's design talent.

Torana, which made its debut last year, differs from other Holden show cars because it uses many basic structural elements with the latest GM sports concept cars and much of its componentry is sourced from GM.

Mr Mooney said Torana was the first Holden show car to merge Australian design and engineering expertise with GM technical resources.

"Quite simply, for us Torana is a ‘game-changer' in automotive design and production," he said.

Holden retains Torana's rear wheel drive and introduces a high-powered 280 kW twin turbo 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 engine and 6-speed manual transmission to the twenty first century version.

Bold styling cues make the Torana stand out from the pack. Painted in luminous ‘ManGenta' pink, the Torana's interior contrasts in white and black. The young design team took inspiration from future fashion trends and industrial design and gave the Torana sculpted white leather seats, mirror-gloss finishes and a panoramic glass roof.

Alongside VZ AWD and the Torana is the hand-built Elfin Streamliner MS8. A project of former Holden Asia Pacific Executive Design Director Mike Simcoe, the road-going Elfin Streamline MS8 features Holden's 245kW Gen III V8, six-speed gearbox, limited slip diff, ABS and traction control systems.

Elfin used its extensive racing knowledge to develop a fully adjustable lightweight sports chassis. The space frame - required to accommodate the V8 powertrain and provide two-seater comfort - was developed using Holden's advance CAD and ALIAS resources. The Streamliner is aimed at the historic vehicle enthusiast market and is being built to order by Elfin.

Also on display are Holden's top-selling models - Commodore, Astra and Rodeo. Each led their segments in terms of sales, with Commodore retaining its title as Australia's number one passenger vehicle for the ninth consecutive year.

Holden Special Vehicles will also have a display at the show, highlighting its Z Series range of vehicles.

The Brisbane International Motor Show is at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre from 4th-13th February.
