Ford Motor Company Ltd (England) has donated the 800th Ford Transit minibus
to The Lord's Taverners in recognition of the vital work done by the charity in
providing these vehicles for special needs organisations and schools. The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron and Twelfth Man of The Lord’s Taverners,
cricket’s official charity in England, has presented the 800th Lord’s Taverners
minibus to Holyport Manor School, Maidenhead at Windsor Castle. The minibus is
to mark the 80th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen. The charity was represented by Rachael Heyhoe Flint, The President of The
Lady Taverners, who commented: “It is wonderful that The Duke of Edinburgh has
been able to present the charity’s 800th minibus to coincide with Her Majesty’s
the Queen’s 80th birthday year”. Ford chairman and managing director Roelant de Waard commented: "We are
delighted and honoured that The Ford Transit mini bus is the vehicle of choice
of The Lord’s Taverners for its specially converted minibuses. Ford has been
supplying these vehicles to the charity for the last 30 years and the new Ford
Transit minibus is designed to be still more appropriate for the needs of
drivers and passengers alike." Holyport Manor School is a special needs school catering for 160 pupils
under the age of 18 years. All of the pupils have special needs and a
significant number of children have mobility problems. The minibus will be
used to allow the children to visit the local hydrotherapy pool and to
integrate into the local community. |
