New Ford Falcon For Melbourne Motor Show
22nd February, 2008 | ||||
Ford Australia will showcase its new FG Falcon range at the Melbourne Motor Show next week. The all-new FG Falcon range will be revealed to the public at 5 PM on Friday 29th February when the 2008 Motor Show opens its doors at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. All-new exterior and interior designs and an all-new front suspension are headline features of the new FG range, along with more power and economy plus an advanced safety package. Ford will display the entire new model range at the Motor Show, with sedan, Ute and Ford Performance Vehicles all on show ahead of mainstream sedans going on sale in May this year. The all-new FG Falcon range also introduces a new model line-up incorporating the new sports luxury G Series sedan range, along with three different exterior front end treatments and a significant realignment of models and specifications. Falcon sedans will come as the mainstream Falcon XT, the new G Series comprising G6, G6E (see accompanying image) and G6E Turbo, plus the XR family of XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8. Following the European trend for Ford to eliminate the 'Ghia' name from its model line-up, Australia's Ford Falcon range follows this recent policy decision and has dropped the Ghia nameplate. Gone too is the long standing Fairmont name tag. A new body structure delivers greater structural integrity for improved refinement and enhanced occupant protection and crash performance. Standard safety equipment on all petrol Falcon sedans will include driver and front passenger airbags, front side head/thorax airbags, driver and front passenger Beltminder® system, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control (TC) and Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) Side curtain airbags are standard on premium sedan models and an option on other sedans. The Ute will go on sale soon after the mainstream sedans, available in Cab/Chassis and Styleside Box styles with a choice of engines and transmissions plus R6 and XR performance models.
