2nd November, 2005
Fiat has long been renowned for lifting small cars above the mundane,
turning basic transport into something special, into virtual works of art,
from the original Topolino, through the classic Fiat 500 and 600 to the new
Fiat Punto Grande.
Designed by Italdesign-Giugiaro working with the Fiat Style Centre, the
styling of the Punto Grande is an intriguing mixture of aggressiveness and
power, combined with restraint and elegance. It boasts sporty, flowing
lines that communicate strength and agility while revealing inner
refinement.
The strong character of the Punto Grande is evident in the car's sleek,
aggressive nose which conveys a very real dynamism. It is a striking front
end, worthy of a sports car, into which the elongated headlights are set
with a dramatic tension of line.
The impression is strong: vivaciousness, attention-getting, a touch of
misbehavior and a mysterious appeal. The rear end is softer and rounder,
and it balances the aggressive front end. The car communicates its more
reassuring character at the rear, reiterating the concepts of stability,
solidity and strength.
The final result is a balanced line which meets demands for inspiration and
rationality, where the values of performance, refinement and beauty all
coexist harmoniously. The styling of the Punto Grande is rooted in the
traditions of Italian motoring, a legendary history re-interpreted in a
modern key and absolutely suited to the needs, demands and requirements of
the 21st century.
The Fiat Punto Grande will be released in Australia in late 2006.
