- Complete user-connectivity upgrade, highlighted by segment-leading seven-inch TFT instrument display
- Three new paint colours and 16 interior options
- Choice of three engines: 1.2-litre in the Pop, 1.4-litre in the S and the 0.9-litre TwinAir Turbo, in the
Lounge
The Fiat 500 Series 3 has arrived in Australia with a host of important style, comfort and technological
enhancements.
A key new feature is the segment-leading seven-inch TFT digital instrument display – standard across the S and Lounge
trim levels – developed in collaboration with Italian auto manufacturer Magneti Marelli, which seamlessly combines
cutting-edge technology without disrupting the 500’s aesthetics of the cabin.
The new TFT instrument cluster also allows for a more prominent gear shift indicator, highly visible warning messages
and more detailed media player, telephone and navigation information readouts.
Using the familiar Fiat 500 lay-out and execution of the centralised speedometer, rev-counter and trip computer, the
centre of the display – which contains a digital image of the car – can also be configured to show various trip computer
readouts, such as distance travelled, instant fuel consumption, range and more.
As a final touch, the TFT screen – which measures how efficiently you’re driving in ‘normal’ mode - reconfigures when
the Sport button is activated on 1.4-litre S models, transforming into sport-orientated gauges and a digital RPM gauge,
emphasising the dual-personality of the fun-but-frugal Fiat 500. In the Lounge, equipped with the 0.9 TwinAir Turbo, an
‘eco’ gauge appears at the press of a button, which measures how efficiently the driver is performing in real time – and
awards eco 'trophies' to reward efficient driving.
Fiat 500 Pop models are paired with Fiat’s 51kW/102Nm 1.2-litre engine matched with a five-speed manual or Dualogic
transmission.
The Fiat 500 S steps up to the engaging 74kW/131Nm 1.4-litre engine linked with a six-speed manual or Dualogic
transmission.
The 500 Lounge is powered by Fiat’s 0.9-litre two-cylinder TwinAir Turbo, delivering 63kW/145Nm, and is exclusively
paired with the Dualogic automatic transmission. Fiat’s TwinAir is Australia’s most fuel efficient petrol engine, with
the Lounge rated at just 3.9-litres per hundred kilometres.
The 500 range is also now more customisable than ever, with three stunning new paint colours – Blue Jelly Bean, Mint
Milkshake and Vanilla Ice Cream – added to the 11 existing colour options. And with 16 new interior options and three
cabriolet roof options, each and every 500 has the potential to be unique.
Introducing the MY14 Fiat 500 Series 3, Fiat Chrysler Australia President & CEO, Ms Veronica Johns, said: “Fiat
enjoyed record-breaking sales in the first half of 2014 and the new 500 range with updated looks and segment-first
technology is a timely arrival to continue our momentum.”
