Fiat is celebrating in Brazil, with its ten millionth
vehicle produced in the South American country – all of which is helping to give Fiat more than a
quarter of the local market and the number one spot, with 60,628 vehicles sold in May alone.
Fiat has been building cars and light commercial vehicles in Brazil since 1976 and today the Fiat
factory in Betim produces 15 different models and hundreds of variants, with more than 3,000 vehicles
produced per day. In May, Fiat sold 60,628 vehicles to take 25.5 per cent of the Brazilian market,
ahead of Volkswagen and General Motors, thus enabling Fiat to claim the number one spot in the market
for the first five months of this year.
