FG FPV F6 Turbo to race at Bathurst 12 hour

 The
brand new FG FPV F6 Turbo Six will join the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour
Showroom Enduro 12 – 14 February 2010.
Long time Victorian
production car exponent Ted Robinson is planning to enter the car in Class A
– High Performance Rear Wheel Drive, however is yet to secure drivers and is
calling out for those who would like to experience the FPV on one of
Australia’s most historic tracks.
“We’ve had a few drivers approach
us but we need serious drivers with budgets to get the car on the track next
year,” said Robinson. Robinson believes the FG is going to give the front
-runners a run for their money and will break the BMW and Mitsubishi Evo
domination of the previous three years.
“That’s why we are entering
it – this car can win outright,” said Robinson.
“It’s a brand new car
and we still have a couple of issues to sort out. It will be up and running
in 3 weeks and then we will be doing a few test days to have it ready to
roll by mid January.”
This is the first time that the FG FPV F6 will
enter the Event although Robinson Racing Developments entered a BF Typhoon
in the 2007 Bathurst 12 Hour for a top ten finish.
A second FG F6 is
set to be entered by Jeremy Gray, Ian Gray and Chris Delfsma. The car has
also run selected rounds of the Australian Manufacturers Championship and
Delfsma has had previous 12 Hour experience in Ford products.
Earlier
this year, an FPV FG GT-P V8 was driven by Steven Johnson, Nathan Tinkler
and Nathan Callaghan. The car claimed 10th in its class and 30th overall
after a number of tyre and brake issues throughout the race.
The FPV
F6 will be a lot quicker around the track and with its massive torque band
could be a real surprise.
“The F6 is a turbo charged 6 cylinder, is
lighter over the front axle and has more torque than the V8, so it’s a
faster car and it will be more user friendly on the brakes etc,” said
Robinson.
The FPV F6 is now recognized as one of the great
Australian performance cars, and a win in the Armor All Bathurst 12 Hour
would cement its reputation as a true performance classic.
The Armor
All Bathurst 12 Hour Showroom Enduro is now in its 4th year, with a grid of
over 50 cars expected to compete. The race features production cars in a
class structure representative of the mass road-going market. BMW,
Mitsubishi, Ford, Holden, Nissan and Subaru are expected to compete for
outright honours, while an Alternative Energy class is open to diesel,
hybrid and LPG entries.
The Event will be televised in a 3 hour
special on the Seven Network, through Fox Sports, New Zealand and other
International Markets.
