Ferrari Opens-Up Fiorano Test Track
15th January, 2007 | ||||
Ferrari is offering car enthusiasts a unique opportunity – a visit to the
Fiorano test track, a facility which is normally closed to the public. To kick of a year of celebrations to mark Ferrari’s 60th anniversary,
visitors to the Galleria Ferrari, the Ferrari museum in its home town
of Maranello, is offering guided tours of the Fiorano test track. Maranello and the Galleria Ferrari are, at normal times, an interesting
destination for many Ferrari drivers/enthusiasts who are visiting Italy.
Access to the Fiorano facility will possibly make a visit to the home
of Ferrari even more appealing. The test track was designed to combine all the most demanding parts of Formula
One race tracks around the world, in an endeavour to provide Ferrari with an edge
in development. Equally it provides Ferrari with a safe and secure environment to
develop its road cars and its importance to Ferrari is clearly indicated by the
fact that its latest model is named after the track, the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. The Galleria Ferrari is also kicking off the 2007 exhibition programme with a
special display of pictures dedicated to the Panamerican 20,000 - the tour that
led two Ferrari 599 GTB Fioranos across the American continents. The exhibition will show a selection of images and objects, which have
been collected along the way through the various countries, a previously unseen
film, which tells the journey and obviously the two 599 GTB Fiorano themselves. The Panamerican 20,000 - which ended after 84 days and more than 30,000 kilometres
through 16 countries, from Brazil to Canada, on 17th November, 2006, in New York - can
now be relived thanks to the images taken by Gabriela Noris, the photographer,
who experienced the performances of the two 599 GTB Fioranos on their trip. In the year which celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Prancing Horse, the
Galleria Ferrari will play a big part with a series of special initiatives,
another exhibition, which demonstrates the close connection between the Galleria
and the company and its challenges, which Ferrari enthusiasts can only find in Maranello. The Galleria Ferrari, which is in the centre of Maranello, is open every day from
09:30 to 18:00 including holidays. The Fiorano tours are only available during January 2007. |
