Brussels Sprouts A New Citroen!

11th December, 2007

2008 Citroen C5 Saloon

Citroen has announced that its all-new C5 will make its world debut at the 2008 Brussels Motor Show, the first major European Motor Show of the year, on 15th January 2008, demonstrating Citroen's keenness to get the new car into the market, rather than wait until the traditional European new car debut season at Geneva in March.

Following its European launch, the new Citroen C5 will arrive in Australia during the third quarter of 2008 armed with a strong personality and the prerequisite qualities needed to become a player in the prestige segment of mid-upper range saloons. The new C5 boasts aerodynamic lines.

The cockpit-style driving position features consummate quality and detailing, innovative ergonomic controls and standard-setting seat comfort. Passengers travel in a prestige environment with total peace of mind.

Out on the road, the new C5 reconciles driving sensations with exceptional comfort. Fitted with the running gear of the C6, the new Citroen C5 maintains the ride quality that is a hallmark of Citroën know-how. The new C5's road manners are enhanced by a range of engines, uncompromising safety and leading-edge technologies.

The new Citroen C5 will compete against the brilliant Peugeot 407, the pleasing Renault Laguna, the successful Saab 9-3 and the outstanding Volkswagen Passat. Next year, the C5 is likely to have another competitor, as the Next Car team expect the highly admired Skoda Superb will be released in Australia. Another new model expected in Australia in late 2008 or early 2009 is the Saab-built Cadillac BLS mid-size saloon. Additionally, the Citroen C5 competes against the Nissan Maxima and higher-end versions of the Ford Mondeo. Lower-end Mercedes-Benz C-Class models are likely to ensure the new Citroen C5 will find it difficult to gain a strong sales base, as this segment of the market has some excellent cars available and the relevant brands have gained enormous brand loyalty from astute user-choosers (buyers).
