CITROËN C2 JOINS THE CITROËN C3 AS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CARS IN
THE WORLD
The Citroën C2 has been awarded the title
of most beautiful city car in the world, joining the Citroën C3, which
was presented with the title of the world's most beautiful small car in
the world last year by a jury of the world's leading car designers,
architects, engineers and stylists.
The organizers of "L'Automobile
più Bella del Mondo" brought together more than 50 new cars from Alfa Romeo,
Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Citroën, Daewoo, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford,
Jaguar, Lamborghini, Lancia, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mazda,
Mercedes-Benz, MG Rover, Nissan, Opel, Pininfarina, Porsche, Renault, Saab,
Seat, Suzuki, Toyota and Volkswagen to be judged in a range of
categories.
The judges included Bruno Alfieri, Ermanno Arslan, Gianni
Berengo Gardin, Rossana Bossaglia, Patrick Caulfield, Giulio Cappellini,
Fulvio Cinti, Gillo Dorfles, Piero Dorazio, Heinz Mack, Vico Magistretti,
Kenneth Noland, Mario Piazza, Antoine Prunet, Carlo Rivetti, Bruno Sacco and
Massimo Vignelli. They were tasked with choosing the car that was not just a
good looking car, but which has also made a significant contribution to
car design, which is distinctive and different from its competitors and
which stands out on the road as a new, different and vibrant
design.
The award for the Citroën C2 was presented to Citroën at the
Milan Triennale, one of Europe's major arts and design events in the Italian
city renown for its art, design, engineering and automotive
heritage.
The Citroën C2 was launched in Australia early this year in its
most exuberant version, the Citroën C2 VTR, the performance version of the
range which is a fully equipped pocket rocket ideal for city life, as well as
fun driving on the open road. Fully equipped with a 1.6 litre engine
and Citroën's SensoDrive sequential manual gearbox, the Citroën C2 VTR has
a recommended retail price of $23,490.
