BMW’s first ever six-cylinder diesel 3 Series arrives in showrooms ready to entice buyers with a wide-ranging list of standard features.

The 330d is the most highly specified diesel 3 Series ever offered in Australia.

Exterior features such as the larger 17-inch light-alloy wheels, bigger brake package, kidney grille with chrome bars, larger dual exhaust tailpipe and chrome highlights around the side windows distinguish the 330d over the four-cylinder 320d.

The tyre and brake package has been upgraded for 330d buyers to take account of the increased performance offered by the in-line six-cylinder diesel engine.

The larger mixed-profile tyres measure 225/45 R 17 up front and 255/40 R 17 at the rear.

The brake package is the same as the 335i and features vented single piston floating calliper disc brakes measuring 348 mm at the front and 336 mm at the rear. The respective figures for the 320d are 312 mm and 300 mm.

Standard equipment on BMW’s new diesel 3 Series includes Dakota leather upholstery, available in a choice of six colours, Business navigation system, bi-xenon adaptive headlights, 10-speaker HiFi loudspeaker system and comfort access system which allows owners to unlock and start the car without taking the key out of their pocket.

The front seats in the 330d are fully electric, with useful memory function (for the seats and exterior mirrors) that is linked to the personal settings of both customer keys. The front seats also feature electrically adjustable lumbar support (horizontally and vertically) for ergonomically perfect seat position and back muscle support. The rear seats feature a 60/40 split and a through loading system with integrated ski bag.

The sports leather steering wheel is fitted with paddles for sporty gear shifting, as well as cruise control with brake function and high beam assist, which takes the stress out of night driving. For improved illumination at night, the 330d’s standard variable light technology can adjust the throw of the light beam between urban and highway mode.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) features extended functions in the 330d such as dry braking, start-off assistant, brake fade compensation and soft-stop. For improved traction in surfaces such as snow, the vehicle also features Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). In addition to the active front head restraints and six airbags, the 330d is equipped with a warning triangle and first aid kit.

The top of the line diesel 3 Series is available in a wide range of exterior colours including three non-metallic (Crimson Red, Black and Alpine White) and ten metallic colours (Montego Blue, Platinum Bronze, Barbera Red, Tasman, Titanium Silver, Space Grey, Monaco Blue, Bluewater, Black Sapphire and Le Mans Blue).

Inside, buyers can choose (at no cost) between six colours for the leather upholstery (Oyster, Red Brown, Saddle Brown, Black, Grey and Beige), three interior colours (Black, Grey and Beige), as well as four interior trims (Black high-gloss, Grey high-gloss, Aluminium, Burr Walnut wood trim or light Walnut wood trim).

The new BMW 330d Sedan is price (MLP) from $87,250*.
