BMW Group Australia has announced pricing and specification details for
the company’s new 2 Series Active Tourer.
Scheduled to reach Australian showrooms in December this year, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is a landmark vehicle
for the Bavarian automotive company.
This new model is built on a architecture from within the group, based on a front-wheel drive lay-out, to provide a
spacious interior, flexibility and functionality. In addition, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers the customary
design elements of the BMW brand.
New turbocharged engines with three and four cylinders, a package of BMW EfficientDynamics measures and the
connectivity provided by BMW ConnectedDrive ensure a driving experience featuring ability and efficiency.

Standard on the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are features such as BMW’s Driving Assistant, which includes Lane Departure
Warning, Forward Collision Warning and Light City Braking, as well as rear view camera, Navigation System, Sensatec
upholstery, a BMW Design Line Package and an automatic tailgate.
There will be three variants, based on the three different engines, in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer range. The entry
level 218i Active Tourer will be available from $44,400*, the 218d Active Tourer from $47,800* and the top-of-the-range
225i Active Tourer from $54,900*.
Conscious of the need to meet the high level of spaciousness, variability and functionality demanded in the compact
class, BMW has given the 2 Series Active Tourer a front-wheel-drive system capable of delivering the degree of driver
engagement expected of the brand’s models.
Together with a wheelbase of 2,670 millimetres and raised roofline, this configuration enables the interior to be
maximised, resulting in a feeling of spaciousness. Driver and front passenger enjoy a higher seating position than in a
sedan, which affords a commanding all-round view and easier access and egress.
The brand identity is clearly present in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, particularly through trademark features such
as the slightly forward-slanting BMW kidney grille at the front end which is flanked by twin circular headlights. The
short front overhang is unusual for a front-wheel-drive car, and is just as much a classic BMW styling cue as the short
overhang at the rear, the long wheelbase, the Hofmeister kink in the rear side windows and the L-shaped rear lights.
Crisp contours and an eye-catching swage line at the sides give added impact to the wheel arches and inject the BMW 2
Series Active Tourer with forward thrust even when stationary.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be launched with a choice of three light and fuel-efficient three and
four-cylinder drive units that form part of a new generation of engines. They are installed transversely and boast a
compact design along with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, while complying with the EU6 emissions standard.
The three-cylinder petrol unit – the first ever three-cylinder for BMW - stands out for its efficiency and performance
abilities and is found in the BMW 218i Active Tourer. Matched to a standard six speed automatic transmission, this engine
has a displacement of 1.5 litres and generates 100kW of power and 220 Nm of torque, with a fuel consumption rating of 5.2
litres per 100 km and CO2 emissions at 122 grammes per km.
Topping the bill at market launch is the BMW 225i Active Tourer, a two litre four-cylinder petrol engine which
generates 170 kW and 350 Nm of torque. Fuel consumption for this engine is rated at 6.1 litres per 100 km and CO2
emissions are 142 grammes per km. An eight-speed Steptronic sport transmission is standard on this variant.
The four cylinder diesel engine found in the 218d Active Tourer generates 110 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque. Teamed
with a standard eight-speed Steptronic transmission, fuel consumption for this diesel is rated at 4.2 litres per 100 km
and CO2 emissions are 111 grammes per km.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be available in Australian showrooms from November 2014.
