The so called ‘Caravan of the Future’ is being released in Australia
today.
The futuristically re-styled 2013 Bailey Unicorn Series 2 range, with its soaring panoramic front windows, even more
plush interior fit-out and extended list of luxury and convenience features for long-term touring, will point the way to
future Australian caravan design when it makes its debut appearance on the Bailey Australia stand at a caravan show in
Melbourne this week-end.
The new Unicorn S2 is the first major revision of the Bristol, UK-built Bailey since it arrived on the Australian
market early last year.
Since then more than 250 Baileys caravans have taken to Australian highways and the new models incorporate a myriad of
changes based on feedback and suggestions from interested parties.
“Bailey is the largest caravan manufacturer in the UK, but they are determined to succeed in the Australian
market,” said Bailey Australia Managing Director, Adrian Van Geelan.
“We have listened to our customers and Bailey have listened to our recommendations and the result in the Unicorn S2
range is a light, but very strong caravan that is even more suitable for tough Australian travelling conditions.”
Apart from their space-age styling, the new Unicorn S2 models feature more impact resistant and even better insulated
side and roof body panels, uprated axles, they have substantially larger water tanks and larger refrigerators, improved
stone protection, a taller ride height with better ground clearance, helped by a new spare wheel carrier mounted higher
in the chassis for better ground clearance, plus improved flyscreens and window blinds to deal with ‘Aussie mossies’ and
our harsh sunlight.
Other detail changes based on customer feedback include the fitting of an external grab rail for safer entry and exit,
a more ergonomic kitchen design with a two-stage bench height, an increased number of 240v and 12v power outlets and more
robust fixing of wardrobe hanging rails and internal window surrounds.

All Baileys are now pre-wired for solar power and satellite television, there is a new leatherette trim option as an
alternative to the luxurious standard fashion fabric upholstery and all are fitted with premium Michelin tyres mounted on
15-inch rims.
Like all Baileys, the new models are built on a lightweight, yet strong fabricated and galvanised steel chassis using
the company’s patented Alu-Tech five-part modular construction, in which the 32mm composite wall and ceiling and 44mm
thick floor are housed in a structural interlocking aluminium framework.
This leading concept has resulted in further weight-savings in the latest models, ensuring that the entire Unicorn S2
range can be legally and safely towed by family-sized Australian cars and many light SUVs.
The proven strength of this advanced construction allows Bailey to warrant all its caravans for six year in body shell
integrity, with a three-year guarantee on manufacturers’ components.
The three-model Bailey Unicorn S2 range being sold by Bailey Australia includes single and twin axle models, with
internal body lengths ranging from 5.682mm (18ft 8in) to 6.232mm (20ft 5in) and tare weights from 1,560kg to 1,680kg.
