Audi is extending the A1 range – the A1 Sportback is
coming. The five-door model is sporty and efficient. The A1 Sportback is intended to build on the
appeal of the three-door A1.
The Audi A1 Sportback, which will arrive in Australia in mid-2012, is the five-door compact Audi
for a young, urban public. The close relationship with the three-door version is evident in the
design, the structure of the lightweight body and the dimensions of the new model, which measures
3.95 metres in length. It is several millimetres taller and thus offers more space in the rear seats.
The Audi A1 Sportback comes standard with four seats. A fifth seat is available on request at no
extra charge.
The A1 Sportback will be launched internationally with four TFSI petrol and three TDI diesel
engines producing between 63 kW and 136 kW. Audi pairs some engines with the 'lightning-fast',
seven-speed S tronic transmission.
Stay tuned to Next Car for an announcement, in due course, on the specifications and
pricing structure of this new model.
