The new Audi TT made its Australian premiere at the 2006 Australian
International Motor Show in Sydney on 26th October, ahead of its December
national launch. The new generation TT carries all of the standout benefits of its predecessor
and enhances them by virtue of a newer, more captivating design and a series of
customer-oriented innovations. The first generation of the TT was a milestone in automotive design,
combining modern styling with Bauhaus cues in a spectacular sports car package.
From the day it made its debut, in autumn 1998, the Audi TT took the sports
coupé segment by storm, sharpening the profile of the Audi brand in the process. Now the second generation of this successful model is due for market
introduction in Australia. The new TT Coupé is the embodiment of dynamism – in its
design, in its engine output and in its performance. Due for local launch in December 2006, pricing for the new Audi TT has been
confirmed as follows;
Audi has stylishly enhanced the genetic code of the original icon. On the new TT the geometric shapes merge fluidly into a uniform whole. A low, narrow green house is supported by slim pillars sitting on broad, powerful shoulders. The base body beneath is compact in looks, conveying a feeling of confidence and strength. The convex and concave curves of its surfaces lend it the character of an athletic sculpture straining forward. It is now even more expressive in its appearance thanks to the defining single frame grille element, surrounded by a narrow chrome strip, immediately tying this new TT to the very latest generation of Audi design. The new generation now also boasts a speed-activated retractable spoiler. The new TT is expected to outsell its predecessor in Australia says Audi’s managing director, Joerg Hofmann. “The original Audi TT was a success story in Australia, boosting the image of the brand more than any other model." “The overtly sporting character of this new generation will certainly capture more sales and drive up brand recognition in Australia – both key factors in our long-term growth plans,” Mr Hofmann said. The TT boasts a high level of standard specification including a retractable spoiler, twin or dual tailpipes, Audi Space Frame, single frame grille, 2+2 seating, split-fold rear seats, latest generation ESP, sports suspension, front sports seats and a leather sports steering wheel in 3-spoke design with flat bottom with paddles for S-tronic versions. Key customer-oriented options now include extended leather packages in stand-out colours, as well as extended aluminium trim packages and painted brake callipers, adaptive light with dynamic cornering lights, acoustic Audi parking system and Audi magnetic ride. |
