27th January, 2006 The impressive Audi R10 with a V12 bi-turbo TDI engine, has proven to be a huge sensation at Sebring’s “Winter Test” of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) at Sebring Florida on Monday 23rd January, 2006. After the official presentation in Paris in December and a brief appearance at the Los Angeles Motor Show earlier this month, the Audi R10 performed its first public laps in front of media and spectators. The Audi R10 is expected to attract extra spectators to Sebring for the new Audi sports car’s race debut on Saturday 18th March, 2006. The Audi Sport development team will run two Audi R10 prototypes at Sebring with renouned German driver Frank Biela and Italian Dindo Capello in the drivers seats. The two Audi drivers completed a total of 86 laps around the 5.955-kilometre circuit on Monday where the newly developed V12 TDI engine faced its first test in high temperatures with weather conditions reaching 30 degrees in the shade. Previous tests have been conducted in cooler climates in Europe. |
