Audi A5 3.2 Quattro Tiptronic Arrives
18th June, 2008 | ||||||||||||||||||||
Audi’s stylish A5 Coupe now has another model in the range. Launched this month, the A5 3.2 FSI quattro tiptronic joins its multitronic stablemate to further enhance the A5 range. Powered by the same efficient direct injection 3.2 FSI petrol engine, the A5 quattro tiptronic is priced from $95,900 (RRP). Expertly styled with a powerful presence, it adopts Audi’s progressive design language to produce a coupé with a clear design statement of sportiness and elegance. Matched to a 6-speed tiptronic transmission, the A5 3.2 FSI quattro also offers a dynamic driving experience on any road conditions and excellent long-distance comfort due to its permanent all-wheel drive set-up. The A5 quattro model is the second to arrive in Australia, with additional engine variants, the 3.0 TDI and 1.8T FSI, to follow over the next twelve months. Audi’s V6 engine is efficient and eco-friendly with the diesel unit already complying with the future EU5 standard. Thanks to a range of technical innovations, the fuel consumption and CO2 values of both engines are impressively low. The A5 quattro tiptronic features the same smooth and powerful 3.2 V6 engine already available in the 3.2 FSI multitronic. Offering a maximum of 195 kW at 6,500 rpm and 330 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 5,000 rpm, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. Fuel consumption is an impressive 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle. Audi Australia’s managing director, Mr Joerg Hofmann, says the introduction of the new A5 means a clear step forward for the brand in terms of desirability. “The A5 Coupe is a stunning vehicle and has shown it is a serious contender in its class. With competitive pricing, advanced engine technology and elegant design, the A5 turns the heads of the luxury car-buying public,” Mr Hofmann said. “Audi continues to be a brand on the move in Australia and this new quattro model will help propel us towards yet another period of record sales growth.” With a length of 4.63 metres, the A5 Coupe is spacious, with four comfortable seats and an ample load volume of 455 litres. Its generous proportions are another nod to its purpose as a genuine long-distance tourer. As first featured in the A5 3.2 FSI multitronic launched at the end of 2007, the ignition key is a design feature of the A5 and S5 range and also provides sophisticated functionality. Softly contoured and pleasant to hold, the innovative key dispenses with the conventional key bit. The key communicates electronically with the vehicle electrical system as soon as it is inserted into the cockpit and also stores important information, such as the car’s current mileage or warning messages from the Audi A5’s driver information system. Additional A5 variants will be available by the end of the year and include a powerful and economical TDI engine, matched to a completely new high-precision running gear, which, along with innovative, luxury-class equipment features to make this coupe peerless in its segment. Also arriving this month, completing the Audi S5 stable, is the new 4.2 FSI quattro tiptronic variant. Priced at $131,900 (RRP)it matches the S5 4.2 6-speed manual variant on both price and standard specification. Launch plan for Australia:
Since the new A5 model range was launched in Europe in April 2007, more than 36,000 units have been sold, far exceeding the company’s expectations. In Australia, more than 360 units (A5 3.2 multitronic and S5 4.2 quattro manual) have been sold since October 2007. The A5 is a fitting symbol of the success of the brand’s comprehensive product offensive to penetrate new market segments with attractive niche models. |
