2nd October, 2005 The 100,000th Audi Cabriolet was produced at the company’s Karmann production facility last week. Whilst a first glimpse of future Audi models, including the next generation Audi Cabriolet, was provided at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show, the classic current generation Cabriolet model celebrated an important milestone in Rheine, Germany. The 100,000th current-generation Audi A4 Cabriolet has now left the production line, signalling success for this stunning model. The previous-generation model, which was produced for more than nine years, achieved cult status. Even in its early years, the second generation Cabriolet model demonstrated that it would similarly follow the iconic nature of its predecessor. Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Board Member for Production at AUDI AG, is already anticipating the next chapter in the success story with the new model. “We have just presented the next-generation Audi A4 Cabriolet with the new single frame grille in Frankfurt. I am particularly looking forward to this generation of our Cabriolet!” Mr Heizmann said. The current generation of the Audi A4 Cabriolet was launched in spring 2002, and it soon became clear that the originally planned production figures would be significantly surpassed. “The A4 Cabriolet is without doubt the most emotional representative of the model line,” said Marc Thiel, Project Manager at Audi. “The dynamic design, state-of-the-art technology and extensive standard equipment make the car a customer favourite.” The Audi A4 Cabriolet boasts outstanding acoustic insulation and stands out thanks to its excellent suitability for all weather conditions, courtesy of quattro permanent four-wheel drive. The S4 Cabriolet quattro is the only car of its kind worldwide to offer an eight-cylinder engine and permanent four-wheel drive as standard. Total production to date for both model generations is 171,354 vehicles. |
