ALFA ROMEO TO REVEAL THE BRERA
AT THE 2005 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW

2005 Alfa Romeo Brera

1st February, 2005

In 2002 the Alfa Romeo Brera, a concept car designed by the Italian design maestro, Giorgetto Giugiaro, stole all the limelight at the Geneva International Motor Show and there will be an encore performance at the 2005 show when Alfa Romeo reveals the production Alfa Romeo Brera.

When the doors open on the 2005 Show in the first week of March Alfa Romeo will reveal a car that is little changed from the original show stopper, a strong, powerful and unique design that encapsulates all of Alfa Romeo's attributes of performance, style and elegance.

The Alfa Romeo Brera is a 2+2 sports car with generous dimensions: 1830mm wide, 4414mm in length and 1372mm high, but the deeply tapered front and rear styling creates the impression of a very compact car. The interior has an ambience that is both comfortable and sophisticated. This comes from the use of high quality materials and the introduction of some novel ideas such as the wide glass fixed roof that provides more natural interior light for passengers adding to the sensation of spaciousness inside while also giving the car a sleek appearance from the outside.

When the Alfa Romeo Brera goes on sale in Europe towards the end of this year, it will be available in three levels of trim and a choice of two petrol engines, the new 138 kW 2.2 JTS or the 195 kW 3.2 V6 engines, and a 2.4 JTD 180 kW turbo-diesel power-unit coupled to either an automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox depending on the version.

Together with all the delights one expects in an Alfa Romeo, this new car delivers outstanding dynamic performance thanks to the use of quadrilateral front suspension and Multilink rear suspension. Along with the excellent driving experience, comfort is further enhanced by the integral 'Alfa Q4' traction control system fitted to some versions. Brera offers the most sophisticated electronic systems to monitor and control key dynamic parameters of braking and road holding to deliver greater driving safety.

The Alfa Romeo Brera will arrive in Australia in the middle of 2006 with the top engine and trim combination the likely model for the local market, making it the new headline model for the Alfa Romeo range. Prices and final specifications will be announced when it goes on sale.
