Good work by WA Police has resulted in irresponsible drivers losing their cars in recent days.

"Loser" behind the wheel

Western Australian Traffic Police have described a speeding motorist as a "loser".

On Friday, 2nd January 2015, the man was 'clocked' at 211 km/h by radar in a 110 km/h zone. He had two children with him in a Holden Commodore at the time. His car was impounded for 28 days.

For the record, I find myself in agreement with the classification of this particular driver by the Police.

Two hoons lose cars

In another incident, WA's Traffic Intelligence and Traffic Task Force officers have charged two men in relation to a matter in Duncraig on Monday 29th December 2014, in which two vehicles were detected travelling at high speed on Marmion Avenue.

Just before 1:30pm two vehicles were detected speeding by a speed camera positioned in an 80km/h speed zone on Marmion Avenue. A Subaru Impreza was detected at 173km/h and a Mitsubishi Lancer was detected at 160km/h.

The speed camera detection information was passed onto the Traffic Intelligence and Traffic Task Force officers who initiated an investigation into the vehicles involved. On Wednesday, 31st December 2014, the officers visited a residence in Landsdale and spoke with an 18 year old man linked to the Subaru. The 18 year old Landsdale man was charged with Reckless Driving and the Subaru was impounded for 28 days. The officers then called at another residence in Landsdale and spoke to a 19 year old man linked to the Mitsubishi. The 19 year old Landsdale man was charged with Reckless Driving and the Mitsubishi was impounded for 28 days.

Fortunately for other road users, these two hoons will be on the road less often.
