ROVERS CONVERGE AT RAGLEY HALL (ENGLAND) TO CELEBRATE ROVER’S CENTENARY
Several hundred Rover cars spanning 100 years will meet at Ragley Hall, near
Stratford-upon-Avon, on Sunday 11th July 2004 to celebrate the marque’s centenary.
One hundred years ago the first Rover prototype was announced, on 1st July 1904,
with sales of the Rover 8hp commencing on 1 December.
The centenary event will involve examples of all Rover cars produced
throughout the century with displays also including bicycles and motorcycles
that bear the Rover identity. The event is organised by the Rover Sports
Register, supported by MG Rover Group and individual Rover model clubs.
Anyone with a Rover car is welcome to attend the one-day event on Sunday 11th
July with all attending Rover cars displayed in the grounds in front of Ragley
Hall, in a progressive period line-up. As well as the many Rover product related
displays, other activities include a centenary car display, auto jumbles, Ragley
Hall tours and a Concours d’Elegance prize competition for the most immaculate
Rover car in each class.
Tony Atkins, Rover Sports Register organiser, said: "We welcome anyone who
drives a Rover car to join this milestone event that celebrates Rover’s
Centenary. It’s a perfect opportunity to witness a century of motoring
progress."
